FA Cast: Ameria Aviligne

A character reference for a tall, broad-shouldered, intersex Tartarun woman who looks a lot like Al. The fins on her tail are smaller, and her hair is longer, and her features are barely softer than his. She has freckles and green tattoos, and is shown wearing practical red combat pants, armored boots, and a knife at her hip. Like him, she has wide pink eyes and short, pointed ears. She isn't smiling, and generally tends to do less of that than he does. While his pose is more open and showy, hers is firm and closed off, her feet planted and her arms crossed. Most of her notes have been transcribed below, except for the bit about her being a master illusionist and an adept MMA fighter, the note about her hating liars almost as much as Fin Heran does, and the bit about her almost refusing to split the throne with her brother (she wanted nothing to do with it), but ultimately choosing to stay and help Al.

Born: 9 June 1884 E-10

Heritage: Irosian, Miiredian, Archdaimen (+other)

Origins: Ameria Pasha Vitelia Aviligne wasn’t supposed to exist. Her royal mother made sure she knew that from the stage at which she could comprehend such a thing. She was not supposed to have been born… except she had been, anyway. She and her brother Al had been wanted, once, but they had been shoved aside. It took her a long time to learn and come to terms with that. To reconcile the circumstances of their birth with the cold, often cruel person she had grown up with as a mother-figure.

That point of realization and reconciliation happened around the time her brother, her co-heir to the Mercishan throne against all odds, freed their family’s illegal slaves and pledged to the entire multiverse to end what their ancestors had started.

Fun Facts:

  • Adores reptiles of all kinds, sizes, and shapes (especially snakes, shade-dwelling lizards, and drakes). Also likes birds of prey.
  • Between herself and Al, she is the most likely to use her Archdaimen shapeshifting abilities.
    • Also the most likely to wear actual armor.
  • Learned how to fight and adapt gymnastic acrobatics into fighting styles from one of their parents’ former slaves.
  • Perfectly happy to let Al play the dopey airhead prince while she pushes all their policies through the Mercishan governmental circuits (most of which he developed). Let’s him keep the spotlight so she can do the dangerous, important stuff.
    • Pretends she is the calm, cool, “sensible” one, and while she is cool, she is neither calm nor sensible 70% of the time. She is often the one to make the most reckless decisions, and gives herself the hardest jobs – which she then proceeds to stress over profusely.
  • Only wears makeup for official press events and galas, but is very good at it. (Does her own and Al’s, usually.)
  • Has a thing for swords and axes, but mostly uses daggers and plasma staves if she’s not fighting hand-to-hand.
  • See the reference sheet above for more!

Admittedly, out of all the characters that make up the focal cast of Fractal Alliances, Ameria is the one I have developed the least. She’s Al’s twin, which makes her important, but her relaxed nature and tendency to stay out of the spotlight and work behind the scenes makes her difficult to really get a feel for. (I don’t have to write her often, so I don’t have as good a grip on her character.)

That said, I do quite like her. I want her to teach me self-defense and how to flirt with women. She kicks ass and I love that about her.
