A character reference page for a masculine-presenting person in full, detail-painted, black armor. They have tan skin and multicolored hair that starts off brown and turns white, then orange at the tips (magic). They have a generally round face with a strong nose and a wide, sharp-toothed smile. Their armor is close-fitting and covered in details, including runes, small stars some flowing lines, and stripes and color blocking in certain areas like the gauntlets and shoulder plates. Most of the relevant information written across the page is in the below description, except for the note about the "zio'andar," a circle-based arcane rune located on Ev's upper left pectoral (hidden by the armor), which is responsible for their resurrection and their being a ziojic (undead user of void magic). And some complicated bits about the in-universe sword forms they are most accomplished in (they created their own multiclass practice, that's all that's really relevant).

Born: 17 May 1883 E-10

Heritage: human, ???, ziojic (by way of resurrection)

Origins: Evansen “Ev” Stark is born and raised in civil war-Era Averon, a country in [ x ] (which suspiciously resembles an ancient civilization called the United States of America). They are raised for war and optimized survival in the coastal region of Cyresia, a city-state and rural district whose inhabitants have dedicated themselves to Cyresi, the local goddess of love, family, justice, and the sea. They co-lead a small militia group with their friend and partner Kal’ei Pa’sa…

And they die in an honor duel gone wrong.

Then they wake up in an entirely different dimension, and learn they accidentally won the crowns to become Emperor of the most feared military presence in the multiverse.

Fun Facts:

  • Doesn’t like being told what to do, and notoriously fails to obey direct orders they “don’t like” or “don’t vibe with.”
    • Every single one of their friends takes advantage of this to see how many weapons they can get Ev to take apart on autopilot during a given rant.
    • Also, they’re generally very picky about the types of weaponry they will use, and the specs of their other gear. It’s a PTSD-related compulsion, which heavily ties into their inability to adequately process events and move past them. Sometimes, they think if their gear was calibrated just right, or they had had one more battery pack for their blaster, or [ insert any other sort of obsessive “maybe-it-would-have-worked-out” hypothetical ].
      • Very attached to their same pair of combat boots for a similar reason.
      • This eventually leads to them forcing their way onto multiple R&D teams for the Imperial Armed Forces and helping to design new gear (armor, weapons, attachements, undersuits, HUDs, etc) for the entire military. Has a minor compulsion to clean any sort of firearm or plasma weapon put in their vicinity during times of high stress.
  • Gay. So gay.
  • Totally not an anarchist, no, no… Definitely not! Nah…
  • Did not know what a ziojic was or what their abilities entailed for a hilariously long time, given their situation.
  • See the reference sheet above for more!
    • (NOTE: his reference is 2047 Ev, after… like, everything. This is them at their peak, mentally speaking, in armor that they helped design and feel completely at ease in. This is not necessarily a good judge for what Ev looks like/their state of being generally throughout FA. I was just on a 2047 “Finale”-era kick when I made the reference sheets in 2024.)

Among other things, Ev is the catalyst of Fractal Alliances. It’s because of them that the Empire of Aetheria goes all topsy-turvy, and things start to change – for better or for worse, depending on the situation (and who you ask…). They are a passionate friend, a destructive enemy, and a capable warrior with a heart of gold and a strong sense of justice.

They also get so, so fucked up. They go through hell and back multiple times, live through and fight in so many wars (including 3 major interdimensional ones), and are regularly forced to do things entirely against their will via horrific mind control. They’re also my favorite. (Sorry buddy!)

A digital illustration featuring Ev, painted in pinks and oranges. They are standing in a field outside of a forest and a glowing green-blue barrier with runes scattered across it. They are in half-armor (waist-down). The piece depicts a poignant moment in the story in which Ev is locked out of a place they once found great solace in.
An older illustration of Ev from a narrative painting series.
